Re: Prestige Optima and Boric Acid
I use plasticast investment. I use 36 percent water to investment and mix one and thre quarters percent of the water weight boric acid. If I'm doing class rings with lettering on the surface I go up to 2.25 percent boric acid. use a high speed blender to mix the boric acid into the water. When mixin...

Re: Solus Wax Pro
I just thought I should update my results with Easycast. I switched to 80 x 45 and am getting much better results. Don't understand why I was getting such rubbish on the higher resolution but now I'm good to go. One thing for sure, the casting is flawless.

Re: Solus Wax Pro
I was having good success with easycast until last September. All of a sudden I was getting rubbish. Changed the bulb, changed the tilt motor bought the aluminum vat, ec. I often have to print three of the same model to get one good one. Even if I get a good print there is always some half hard slud...

Solus Wax Pro
Has anybody got feedback on Soluswax Pro. I have 12 partial bottles of resins I have tried over the last few years. Thousands of dollars wasted. The only resin I have found to produce both great models and also casts with little or no problems was the Solus Wax. The Easycast Hd cast well but I have ...

Re: Solus Wax Resin
I had success printing models the first few times I tried the soluswax but the scale was way off. Adjusting for the scale problem, I'm just getting crap now. The latice prints and the first millimeter or so of the models. I've lost the better part of A week screwing around with this stuff. I'm going...

Re: Solus Wax Resin
I grew a few models in the SolusWax. The models came out great but...... I had grown two of the models with soluscast a day earlier and when I compared them the shrinkage between the two resins was 8 and 12 percent. That's extreme. I'm hoping that the shrinkage occurred during the 20 minutes under m...

Re: Casting SolusCast
I don't worry about angles. You can't do this by extruding. I do an inner and outer outline and then raise the outlines to the thickness I want. Then loft and cap. Pain in the ass. That's why I only do it for something I'm repeating. The heavy silver casting above was done with soluscast but I still...

Re: Casting SolusCast
About the lettering in the pictures above... I used to have trouble with lettering also. For this ring I outlined the lettering and then extruded the outline part way up the letters. This makes the pockets shallower and less likely to break. If I'm doing a job where I have to repeat as in school rin...
