Re: My (failed) castings w/SolusCast
None of the jewelry we produce is thick (thickest parts 2-3mm), IPA has never caused cracking, nor has heat. heat trials included microwaving in water, mineral oil, and glycerin. i used a toaster oven at 250*F and other temps as well. we even tried boiling in TSP solution, and water in a flask on th...

Re: My (failed) castings w/SolusCast
Have you tried curing the pieces for longer? We usually cure them under 405nm uv lights for no less than 3-5 hours depending on the pieces. Seems like you only cured them for 16 minutes total. I doubt that's nearly enough time to cure the resin. i prefer a resin that can cure quickly, with Emerald ...

My (failed) castings w/SolusCast
I would like to preface this with the Solus is hands down the best SLA 3D printer. Comparing the results achieved from the Solus to every other machine we have had samples from, there is no comparison. I cast 4 rings with SolusCast. These same models, if cast in Emerald, would still have flaws. Thes...

Considering Contour
I am interested in the Contour software, but I am curious as to how the 'light intensity' affects layer exposure. Mercury Vapor bulbs are either on or off with exception to altering power supplied to the lamp. does it change light temperature or increase exposure? also, can the lift sequence be modi...

Re: Introducing the SolusCast resin
i printed using my modified emerald profile. over cured per layer it seems, but i'm impressed with how hard the prints are straight out of the machine. (100% print success, some detail lost) casting tomorrow. i hope this resin is as good as i hoped. we will consider the upgrade to contour, though i'...

Re: Graphite crucible breaking down quickly
we get our flasks from Rio. 10 cycles sounds about right. i don't heat the flask to melting temp. i start off ~200* above whatever the melter is reading, for instance: Temp 75* i set it to 275* then temp overshoots to 450* setpoint -> 650* then SP -> 850* and so on till i get to melting temp. i have...

Re: MIY UV+Heat Vacuum Oven
Maybe a steel plate inside the chamber that would heat up via induction? I researched the DIY methods myself before buying the ready made version and quickly got overwhelmed with all the marijuana talk, lmao. Yes, was thinking that too. A polished steel plate that would act as a mirror would be ide...

Re: MIY UV+Heat Vacuum Oven
i know most people will respond to this post with contradictions, but from my experience, heat during cure only causes problems. LITERALLY only removed the heat from our curing process and casting improved leaps and bounds. if you're not getting a good cure, lack of heat isn't the issue. not enough ...
