Re: Make sure machine is LEVEL.
FWIW My machine is way off level and has been since I owned it and for most of the 10L or so of resin that have been through it. Haven't had any problems.

Re: Erics paper on resin casting at the santa Fe Symposium
I've been doing NO uv cure (other than incidental ambient light) and following the 10 minute boil procedure for nearly 6 months and hundreds of castings. Best results I've ever had. The process has gone from marginal to acceptable (at worst) or superb (at best). I don't control my casting as it is o...

Re: very small wire wheels
The wheels are printed vertically as you see them with no support. I generally put 0.1-0.2mm of -ve Z on them. This creates a small flat on the bottom which kind of simulates weight on the tyres. I've been working on mk2 of this model which I'll share in due course. Thanks for the feedback Lawrence

very small wire wheels
Austin_HLB5178.jpg Here's my latest model at 25/25micron with 20micron layers printed in Proto. The car wheelbase is 32mm and the spokes are drawn at 0.1mm. However the wheels were over exposed to get a reasonable success rate so they will be somewhat fatter than that. The steering wheel is also ri...

Re: how I avoid fail print and lines (especially on b9emerald)
Exposure is obviously important. Underexposed and the prints will be soft and lack mechanical strength (which can lead to breakage and/or distortion during printing). Fine wires and detail may not form. Over exposure can lead to softening of detail, overthick wires and under size apertures. On the o...

Re: Casting resins cherry, emerald
Hey Chalamba Good thinking, and I actually tried this. The theory is certainly sound, as light outside the curing wavelength (approx 405nm) is essentially wasted. So what I did was place around 1ml of liquid resin in a small vessel and placed it inside a set up a bit like yours. After 20 minutes the...

Re: Casting resins cherry, emerald
Just got my best ever castings back from my contract caster. So time to offer a few thoughts on this issue. I'm printing Emerald and getting prints cast into 'brass' by a contract caster. I have little knowledge (and zero control) of their process and it is clear that the actual metal they use is qu...

Re: Introducing the SolusProto Resin!
I started a bottle 18 months ago that I have just finished.
I was getting good results right until the last drop. I did notice my new bottle prints slightly differently and I had to tweak some settings a bit. So maybe settling/aging/loss of volatiles were issues - but not anything major.
