Re: Curing
Vacuuming the flask to get rid of the ash seems to work really well. Also ensuring good airflow in the oven and thoroughly uv/heat curing the resins before casting can lessen the ash residue.

Re: Some of my works
I agree with Ken. No need for watertight models or booleans. However the problem is that some cad software has trouble with the STL conversions if the models are not just right to begin with. So you get bad triangle meshes, open meshes and other nastiness. Luckily using netfabb to fix them is usuall...

Only one way to find out Ken
But I think 1 person vs 1000s that use IPA is saying something. I've used alcohol to rinse the models and I don't see any voids. Maybe that person soaks the prints in alcohol for a long time. Can't be sure.

Re: Curing
36 or 56 watt should be fine. The stronger the bulb faster it will cure. Putting the cherry resin prints in the oven at low temps like 200-250f for about 30 min to an hour can help to cure the insides of the prints, which can help achieve better castings.

One ring to rule them all
Ok. So I did some experimenting with the Anti-Aliasing function of CW (many people from another forum argue that AA is a waste of time). Here is an interesting comparison photo that proves otherwise. untitled.jpg The exposure times are: cherry 25z - 2.6s cherry 30z - 2.8s spota 30z - 1.6s Print time...

Black Betty Print
Finally got around to printing this super high resolution model provided by Hector Moran (modeled in Zbrush) I printed this at 30z and 25xy resolution using the spot-a ht resin with pigment added. I think it turned out great. 2015-07-15-17.50.35 ZS PMax.jpg 2015-07-15-17.52.46 ZS PMax.jpg 2015-07-15...

Wow. I love that how you supported those bands at an angle. Only give you a tiny spot that needs work/cleanup. Did you try printing it just flat on the build platform with no supports?

Re: First raw castings off the Solus
Great results, Ken. Did you use any special burnout? Have you heard of vacuuming the flask before casting? It gets rid of remaining ash residue that can cause those pits.
