Stuller salesman awed by Solus
Just a funny experience I though I'd share. Stuller sales rep came to the store last week showing us some of the new things they have available. We ended up buying 3 new Leica A60 microscopes with the GRS Versa stands, very nice microscope, by the way. He starts trying to sell us a Projet 1200, I te...

Re: Too many fails
I just looked and it is 220 grit but it is well used. As for my fails, they are almost all support issues for sure now that I switched to the Solus Contour software. I'm still mastering the art of supporting my models. I understand what you're saying about "time is money", I had a few mont...

Re: Too many fails
I found I was sanding the build plate too often and a little too haphazardly and it got so it wasn't super flat anymore. I started sanding it on sandpaper that is taped to a piece of glass. Works great to find the low spots. After that, recalibrate the plate and you should be good to go if that's th...

Any idea on how to support this?
I'm at a loss on how to support this one. No matter how I orientate it, there is text pointing down somewhere creating nasty overhangs that adding supports to would ruin the text. It will be a 6+ hour print so, I didn't want to do my usual "support and pray" technique, although I have lear...

Re: Build arm stuck at the base of the z-axis screw
Glad you got it figured out. Keep us updated after you replace the part if you can. I agree about the immpressive service. I started out a year ago as a complete newcomer to both CAD and CAM and the service I've received has been literally extraordinary. Emil shipped me a new quartz, out of warranty...

Re: Build arm stuck at the base of the z-axis screw
I had similar issues once and Mark thought it may have been due to a corrupted firmware.
Emil connected to me remotely and reloaded it and it's all good now.
Great idea on the "warm up" feature!

Re: any ideas what causing this please?
Yes pre-slicing is basically this: CW->Configure Slicing Profile->Export to CWS Then save the file, and when you slice, it will pre-slice the model instead of doing it on the fly. I found this was the solution to my similar problems, unless your film is too beat up, then that may be the culprit.

Re: NEW SOLUS SOFTWARE?
I just want to comment on how great this software is. I can finally use the whole build area at 25xy and not worry about distortion. I also love not having to wait for pre-slicing and the auto-homing is awesome too. I have a dozen prints since upgrading and all came out great. As soon as I get a lit...
