Re: how I avoid fail print and lines (especially on b9emerald)
Hey Carl I am quite happy to post settings but that rather misses the point - which is that the ideal setting will depend on your specific circumstances. For example when my bulb was new I found that I needed much shorter than recommended exposure as the recommended numbers caused light bleed with o...

Re: Failed or unusable prints
This is primarily just by way of friendly encouragement... A DLP printer isn't exactly a consumer or even a commercial machine in my opinion. The Solus is a very cost effective unit capable of extremely good things, BUT a degree of experience, knowledge and skill are required to get the best out of ...

Re: how I avoid fail print and lines (especially on b9emerald)
I've only just discovered this thread, although I did have a discussion with Mark along these lines. When setting up the vat using the thin paper spacer I noticed that my vertical guides flexed significantly for the initial layers of the print. This happened for around the first 0.7mm. (Check it out...

Re: B9 Printing woos
One thing I worked out early on is that supports serve two purposes: 1. To prevent 'islands' during growth - ie a logical function to allow all parts of the model to be attached to the build plate. 2. Mechanical support. To resist the forces imposed on the model during peeling. It is not uncommon to...

Re: Something completely different
The latest installment of my Solus journey... This is the cab for a 1:64 scale locomotive. Pipework is 0.3mm minimum, but valve stems are a lot less than that. The project has a little way to go in terms of detail, but I wanted to test print to prove the concept. This was printed at 30 degrees off v...

Re: Slaggy Prints With Flaps Everywhere -- Possible background exposure?
Not sure I'm expert enough to jump in here, but I've certainly had enough failures to sympathise! First thing to note is that when I do everything right the results are stunning (Solus proto or B9 emerald). 'Right' covers a fairly broad range - it isn't that tight a process, but there are certainly ...

Re: files do not load in Contour
I have occasionally had files that refused to load into Contour - allegedly because they were too big, even though they were not (when checked in other software). I have also loaded files that WERE too big. These loaded just fine, but displayed red, where they were outside the build area. I have not...

Re: silicone rubber does not cure solus proto resin
We didn't have any problem with this in a test run some time back. No particular care was exercised in curing either - as this was prior to getting my uv box. Unfortunately, I don't have the resin details to hand at present. What I do know is that there are a few different curing chemistries for RTV...

Re: WHAT'S THE STICKY INSIDE THE RESIN TANK AND HOW TO REMOVE IT?
I'm sure that's good advice However I have an acrylic vat that has had Proto in it continuously for 12 months without dire consequences (yet). It doesn't look pretty, and I'm sure it is not best practice, but I'm still getting great prints. In practical terms, unless you remove your film, you are go...
