Re: Airflow in burnout
A ramp rate of 28°F per minute is 1680° per hour! That is really fast. That translates to 15.5°C per minute. (28 * 5 / 9) You don't subtract 32 when computing the rate of change, think y = mx + b , we only want the m part. Many burnout schedules for wax will show a ramp rate of 540°F/hour which is 9...

Re: White slime with Emerald
I've seen the white when you use alcohol to do the initial clean, not get all of the uncured resin off of it, then attempt to use water as an inhibitor during UV cure. I think it is a reaction between the alcohol, water and resin while exposed to near-UV light. It hasn't affected my casting as far a...

Re: Printing failure please help
Can you take a picture of your prints flat on the table so we can see what they looked like on the plate? I can't tell from the photo you provided. Maybe you can show a screen capture of how it looked in the printing software?

Re: Printing failure please help
The resin that was stuck got picked up by the head of the ring when it printed. That is probably why you had no debris on the film or in the tank. I've seen that happen if there were issues with the film, like a crease, dimple, etc. Were the failures both next to each other? Is there a pattern based...

Re: If someone thinking...
All this conversation tells me, notwithstanding M-Williams comment, is that there is no secondary market right now until the next iteration of Solus is revealed and people start to trade up. Emil and Mark, are you considering adding a "For Sale" section in case there are people looking to ...

Re: MakerJuice WaxCast Resin
I had more success with WaxCast when I made the raft or base larger than the default if using CW to make the raft. The more surface area it is attached to, the better the chance it will hold on.

Re: What's wrong with these pictures?
Not knowing what it was supposed to look like before casting, I can only assume that the investment gave out and broke apart during burnout. What metal is that? If it is silver, did you try to get rid of the black marks by putting it in pickle? The other pits look to be caused by either ash or broke...

Re: Which Alcohol to use for cleaning resin
I have a bottle of Everclear I bought back in the 90's during a trip through Indiana. I'm almost afraid to open it now.
Good to hear I can use that for cleaning uncured resin instead of making industrial jello shots.

Re: Ben's Prints
While my surface finish wasn't as bad as your casting, I had more voids in my casting than normal. I probably need to run the high temp phase longer or be extra vigilant about getting ash out of the flask. Shane mentioned previously that there were water-soluble additives that would help with castin...
Re: My prints
Nice prints! I will be curious to hear how your casting using WaxCast will work.
I had some issues with the surface quality when I used it. I'd have to experiment more, but don't always have the luxury of time to do the experiment.
