with emeral, when it sits to long ( over the weekend) the castings are really bad.
we get the best results when we let the flask rest for 5 hours before ramp up !
But as i said thats our experience with the emerald !

Re: yellow gold casting - "new" burnout
AND please note : We add 2% boric acid to our investmentwater. Everyone said at the beginning : "just don't add boric acid". What shall i say. Our company and a very good friend of mine who is cast for a lot of jewellers use bric acid. Try it - if you don't like it, you can go back to your...

yellow gold casting - "new" burnout
Hey!! Thats the casting we made today - it came out flaweless. Mention - The biggest setting has a diameter of just 6mm - the smalles around 3,5mm. Good detail, and nice surface! We decide to let the flask longer in the oven at 100°C and 180°C. Total burnout: 2°C/min to 100 - hold 2 hours. 2°C/min t...

Re: Erics paper on resin casting at the santa Fe Symposium
No for sure - we use the emerald - all i said was about that, without mentioning it. :D Thank you @rkundla !!! What i can say about the Emrald is that a lot of jewellers had problems with our burnout. 99% of the problem was because of the bad airflow. good friend of mine is chemist - airflow is a ve...

Re: Erics paper on resin casting at the santa Fe Symposium
I think its nice to know, that the boiling is "the" key. when we microwave our models they also boil. maybe i'll try just boiling without the microwave treatment. We have really good casting, the came out flaweless. only the lettering causes problems. so i will focus to solve this thing. W...

Re: Problem with sucessfull casting
@Dstonic: We have found a very good way for such Rings! First of all - perfect curing! cure the pieces half an hour bevor the microwave cycles! 3 times 3 minutes at 750W in the microwave in destilled water. We have a small pastic bowl we put in the microwave - after the microwave we put this bowl wi...

Re: Whitegold - Castings with emerald resin
i would suggest du ram at first to 150°. It hardens the investment, and then its ready for the real burnout of the resin. We tried last month to go at first to 100C° for 3 hours, than to 150 for 1 hour and then right to 450 or 470 :) The 800°C for 5 hours are very important. I will try i full ramp w...
