Re: Something completely different
Having printed the gig, it was too much temptation to leave the horse undone, so here it is: horse_HLB5054.jpg Horse is basically a Daz3D standard product taken into Blender to have all the harness and tack added. The mane and tail were also manually modeled in Blender. Not much support was needed o...

Re: Something completely different
These are quick iPhone pics of an earlier print run where the shafts were printed as separate parts.
Was there something particular you were interested in Emil?

Re: Something completely different
Thanks Emil
Yes, but I'm on my real job now. But I can do something in the next day or so. Proto is a nightmare to photograph though, as the orange seems to give a super-saturated image.
If anyone has any tips on photographing Proto models I'd be interested.

Re: Something completely different
In the latest in the series of odd things to print: _HLB5010_MA-gig.jpg This was a test exercise for Mark Andrews of Marks Model Works, who did the design work. It's printed in Solus proto 25/25/20. The shafts are 0.6 mm square maximum, and that's a US quarter lurking in the foreground. The spring d...

Re: Support bug
Same problem for me. You can work around by: # loading the scene (supports will be default and likely wrong for you). # Change the support settings to what you want. # Delete everything # Reload the scene - which will use the right settings. Only some of the settings seem to go back to default. Lift...

Re: Problem with non circular objects - RESOLVED
I've fixed this with a bit of thought, careful measurement, and dawning understanding of how Contour works. My build area was calibrated by measuring the projected grid, and corrected using the calibration controls. All good, but this is not something that is easy to measure accurately, which is wha...

Problem with non circular objects
Thanks to Mark my emerald prints now look pretty good. BUT on to the next problem, which is that objects that should be circular are not. When the wheels below are printed they are visually oval. When the castings are machined that will be a real problem. On a diameter of 13.8mm the wheels are 0.4mm...

Thanks for posting that very full response Mark.
I'm going to digest that and make some changes to what I do.

Something completely different
Here is something a little different from all that gold and silver! This little (15mm square base) model of the most fundamental of facilities was printed in Proto at 25XY with 20Z. The corrugated iron is 0.15mm at its thinnest, and you can see it is translucent in parts. This printed OK but was a l...

Re: Casting Emerald Wax Problems
Hi Mark Can you expand on Emerald clean up and cure please? Your prints look great, but mine are mediocre (even though my Proto prints are superb). I've seen advice to wash with alcohol, avoid alcohol, use >90% alcohol etc. So if you wash with alcohol, what % do you use and for how long? There is al...
