Fine tuning

Postby nillard » Wed Jul 20, 2016 7:23 pm

Hi,

So I made this calibration file with some 5x5 cubes and its coming out big on one side of print small on the other.
Pretty sure it should be the same across the board..How can fine tune for printing? Thanks

Did you measure your grid? Was it accurate? If you're printing at 25xy, it should be exactly 48mm x 27mm.

If it's off on one side, that would mean your aspect ratio in the graphics card settings is off.

I believe the best setting is "Native", but you can try the ones that work best for you and give you the correct size.

Also the grid line isn't straight on the bottom...

I have has similar issues, things are not coming out square or even, close but not exact.

I had to enlarge my grid beyond the suggested size for parts to come out close to actual size. I needed to do this because circle in Z were oval not round.

First of all, use the lens shift knob above the zoom knob on the projector to move the projection down. Then use the keystone keys on the remote to adjust the sides of the grid and make it perfectly even. Then using the grid controls in the Contour software you can adjust the grid. Small changes, but you can go all the ways with each control to see what effect it has, and then go back down. You can always press the default key if you mess things up. It's very simple.

We plan of releasing a video soon, demonstrating how to calibrate the grid using those distortion controls.

Videos would be very helpful, anything to help understand how to work with the Solus.

I was having the same problem, my 10mm by 10mm cube was coming out to 10mm y 10.2-3mm x
So what I did was go to Graphics Control Panel > Display > select Projector display > then down at Scaling, I chose Custom Aspect Ratio, and adjusted x. For me, my ratio was 100y 97x
This is for Intel Graphics, might be different with nvidia, amd exc.

After that my cubes were at least coming out the same measurements on all sides. Then it was just a matter of scaling my grid to get them to exactly 10mm.

I'd imagine just scaling up your grid a tad smaller using your projector scaling dial would do it.
