Re: How to replace film in vat..
I was re watching the video and I have one big difference from within the video:
Following it to a T, when I get to putting the VAT with the half tightened screws onto the quartz and need to do up the thumbscrews, it tells me to stop once I feel resistence, but I have resistence from as soon as the thumbscrews are located in the hole.
Also, the tension is different from the right side to the left side. Do I screw them the same amount (travel on thread) or just tension them similar? (different travel distance on thread, but feels similar) Also in the case of do them by feel, does that mean there needs to be a constant left and right side of the VAT?
Immediately after you finish putting a new film on, should it look:
A: like a perfectly flat and even film from VAT wall to wall
B: Large, raised, Quartz shaped and sized dimple, definitely not flat flat

Old thread I know...
But, the film should look pretty flat against the quartz without any bow in the middle. That's almost like 'calibrating' the film. Then, from there, when you start a job make sure not to overtighten the thumb screws. That allows a tiny bit of 'play' which allows the quartz table to reciprocate. If the thumbscrews are tightened down too much it will prevent the quartz from returning after it releases from the first layer.

WOW ! that film should have been replaced when the first dimple occured , sorry but that's the worst film condition I've ever seen , I'm amazed you've been getting prints off that , but yes , it time to replace and you will see a difference in print quality for sure

Lol. David, It's incredible that you're able to print on that film! Just shows how tough the Solus is
Yes, change the film. Also, make sure you're not wiping the film with anything on the inside. Especially not a paper towel, because it can scratch the film.

Re: How to replace film in vat..
Also you need to run a light exposure after your print is completed in order to remove what is still left on the film after , so you can drastically reduce the dimpling of your film
? how old is that film ?

First film still from when I bought the machine from you.........How do I "run a light exposure"? Is there a special tab in the software that I click on or what? Thanks for the sharing of info. Appreciate it a lot.
