You are right Emil about needing to scrape that settled solid material and helping it get back into the mixture. It is surprising how much of that solidifies down at the bottom of the bottle.

When I saw this shaker, I was like YES! I can finally bust out the reciprocating saw that has been collecting dust for the past X years and put it to good use.

Yup. Especially when people purchase resin from re-sellers who might have them sitting on their shelves for 6 months (which is funny since they advertise that resin lasts for about a year).

I'm thinking manufacturers should stamp out production dates on the bottles, so people know they are getting a fresh bottle of resin ;)

Someone just bought a bottle of b9 cherry from a re-seller and got the old round bottles. You just know they are trying to get rid of old inventory. Better mix the hell out that one.

B9 did put a date code on the older round bottles so you had an idea of when that batch of resin was put together.

I have some yellow in the new jug style bottle that I will need to look closer at because I do not remember a date on that one. :?

I rotate my bottle every other day or so and keep it in a dark drawer. I strain my resin after every print and store it separately in a light proof jar. When I print again I strain it when I pour it in the vat. I dont use a paper strainer but I opt for a fine stainless mesh strainer as not to remove any of the solids. Resin care is a big deal to me so I take extra care of it just like everything else.

Good point Archerm on the type of strainer. I use those paper paint strainers you can buy on Amazon to filter debris, but never really put any thought into the paper part of the cone absorbing some of the resin material, disrupting the balance of the components.

Do you have a shop link to the stainless steel strainer you are using now?

But I still think nothing can really shake off the extra packed layer of pigment from the bottom of the bottles, especially since they sit for a long time.

A bottle of almost used green I had sitting for a few months, had lots of pigment underneath that was almost solid.

So I do suggest stirring it well with a stick and get it off the bottom, and then shaking the bottle to mix.

Seems (fingers crossed) this has solved my problems....thanks Monger.

Old thread, I know.

Just wanted to mention that I threw a couple of small 1/4" stainless steel bolts in the bottle of my B9 emerald. Every day I go in there and wiggle it around for a minute or so and the bolts roll around and keep the juice nice and agitated on the very bottom, where it matters.

This is a great tip and correlates perfectly with the issues I've been having.

It feels like I still have so much to learn about my Solus!

I should say, I really don't like the bottles Solusproto is sold in. It leaks very easily and makes me worried to shake it too hard for fear of it flying onto the carpets, etc. Would be lovely to have some better designed bottles sometime, where it's easy to get a stick into the bottle. :)

I use a wooden dowel to make sure it reaches the curved bottom of the bottle and then shake the crap out of it. NO fails since then
