Rings, X or Y?

Postby Jack_Row » Sun Sep 25, 2016 4:46 pm

Just wondering...

What's the consensus when orientating rings in relation to the build plate? Do you put the front of the ring (looking through-finger) facing the X or Y axis?

To make this simpler: A or B ?

Does it make a difference in terms of easier peeling and getting smoother results??

That's interesting. I was always told to orient rings perpendicular to the tilt, not parallel. We have some Envisiontec Mini XLs here and we orient the rings longways in the Y direction. We were trained to do so because the tilt might cause "skew" by pulling against the ring.

The Solus tilts at the left side so that makes sense.

Thanks for that! I've been doing the other way for so long. I had a question though. Sometimes when I print with yellow, some of my pieces get stretched....circles become....oval :GASP!!: Is there a way to avoid that? I mean, I know yellow is sticky, but.....Could it be the x and y placement? Maybe I need to angle my pieces?
