As of Feb 2, STL thumbnail was separated from the Marlin3DPrinterTool. It now has it's own package to install and can not be found in the updated versions of the Marlin3DPrinterTool per here.

Re: How to enable STL file thumbnails in Windows File Explorer
Hi! I’ve written a STL thumbnail handler as well: https://papas-best.com/stlthumbnails_en
I’m looking for feedback. Since you all seem to have gotten used to Marlin’s thumbnails (and sadly they don’t run on my system), I would be glad if someone could compare both (maybe install mine on a side machine) and suggest some improvements?

I did this and all my previews are from 3rd person perspective. Any ideas?

It depends on how the renderer sets the camera position relative to the XYZ coordinates of your model.
I think I'd prefer third-person to a first-person view anyway. Can't really see much if you look at it from the objects point of view.

Yes, the default viewing angle is not optimal there. This was a common request, so the latest version of my thumbnail handler can change the viewing angle.
However, because it’s pretty new, there’s no graphical interface yet and it requires editing the registry. You can find the details here: https://papas-best.com/stlthumbnails_en#custom_colors
In short, create the approriate registry key and add the values InitialEyeYawDegrees and InitialEyePitchDegrees with the respective degrees of rotation. Don’t forget to update to the latest version and to clear your thumbnail cache, or the changes won’t take effect.
Please let me know if this works for you!

I use Marlin3dprintertool to generate thumbnail for my STL files in Windows 10
You can get it here https://github.com/cabbagecreek/STL-thumbnail/releases
Here's the tutorial to install that if you need: https://3dsage.com/enable-thumbnails-fo ... indows-10/
