Printing distortion

Does anyone have ideas on why this happening? The rings should be straight sided and not have the thickened area at the top. I reprinted it as a single ring in the center and rotated it perpendicularly. The overall difference is that I recently switched back to 25 microns. Everything I have printed since then has been distorted unless I print in the center. Thanks for any thoughts on this. Sherry

Have you upgraded to the latest version of the software and did you re-calibrate your grid distortion using the new method?

I'm using v.9 and I used the video that was available right after it came out. Could it be the keys (can't think of the word) on the projector, because I messed around with that too. I thought I had it straight. I can try again.

Something has to be off with the grid therefore the sides distort inwards.

I followed your advice and recalibrated the grid. I left it on default and printed 6, 10mm cubes. The measurements vary widely. I kept them near the middle, not spread out to the edges. Left-top is 9.72Y and 9.92X. M-top is 9.74Y and 10.09X. Right-top is 9.74Y and 9.97X. Left-bottom is 9.92Y and 9.99X. M-bottom is 9.92Y and 10.09X. Right-bottom is 9.92Y and 9.99X. I printed a single ring and it looked pretty good but I would like to print more than one thing at a time. What do you recommend to get the best results? Thanks for your help. Sherry

I suggest resetting all your projector settings from the projector menu, setting it up again. Also resetting the grid and starting from scratch. Something is clearly setup wrong.

The first step should be the projector setup (brightness, contrast, gamma, eco mode). Then you should make sure the projector legs are closed all the way. Then adjust the KEYSTONE on the projector to make sure the sides of the grid are parallel to each other. Then adjust the grid to correct the distortion (make sure you have the correct projector selected from EDIT, PREFERENCES). Then make sure the grid is the correct size, and adjust using the zoom wheel. Then make sure the focus is perfectly adjusted.

After all that is done, go to File, Setup, Scale Adjustment and make sure all the setting are at 10.

Print a 10x10mm cube in the center. Measure it, and enter the X,Y settings on the bottom row in the Scale Adjustment.

Print the cube again and measure it.

I'll do it and let you know. I'll check the close-up lens and snap fit too since the top left corner is the worst when I get a compromise focus for the rest of the grid.

I just printed a signet ring and it had the lines and a little shift once it got to the top part of ring. All my prints before it were perfect. Reading this forum that type of fail happens a lot. I tilted mine and it still printed that way. And I had checked the grid for size and focus the day before because I accidentally bumped the projector. I wonder if it's because of such a change in mass. Either sticking more to film or not enough set time before next layer is printed.

This is what happens when I use the sliders to straighten it on the screen. The left top corner is way out of focus compared to the rest. I'll try printing the cubes both ways and let you know.
