Hey everyone, hope your growing is going well!
I went to change our projector lamp today and noticed a problem in our projector. We're using an Optoma HD37.
It appears to be a small, thin glass filter between the lamp compartment and the next chamber. I'm assuming it broke from heat, but I'm not sure. For the most part, our grows have been going fine. A few fails here and there, but I've been pretty sure the problem was our lamp (it's at 1134 hours), which is why I was changing it to begin with.
Does anyone know for sure what this glass is, is it important, does it need to be changed, and/or would it being broken cause failed prints? Seems like it would, as it would impact how much light is getting through.
Thanks!

Re: Cracked Filter in Projector
That would happen from extreme heat. Was the "high altitude " mode enabled? It spins the fan faster. Also make sure the room temp is not too hot. Keep an area clear around the projector for air flow and so the hot air doesn't get trapped. Please email me and I'll tell you how to proceed.

Re: Cracked Filter in Projector
For anyone else experiencing this problem, we did get it fixed. As it turned out, our high altitude setting was set to "Off," when it needed to be "On." Not one, but TWO of us missed this setting in the instructions when we were setting up our machines. The unchecked heat is most likely what broke this filter.
Our projector was still under warranty, so we sent it back to Optoma and they replaced the entire Optical Engine assembly.

We also noticed this on our inFocus projector when swapping out the lightbulb. We havent had any luck printing since, even with the new bulb. Can you please advise what to do? Cheers.

Re: Cracked Filter in Projector
This can happen if the projector is not getting enough ventilation (too close to a wall) or if it is moved while hot.
If your projector is still under warranty, then you should send it in for repair. Unfortunately that part is not easily user replaceable.

Re: Cracked Filter in Projector
The projector is past it's warranty. We've had it for now for about a year and a half. Do you know if this issue will dramatically effect the result of an attempted print?
We have not had a successful print for a good while now, which is why I opted to replace the lightbulb, thinking that this was the issue.

Re: Cracked Filter in Projector
I have seen that before. I have the same issue with one of my inFocus projectors and it is still printing ok for over 6-months since I noticed it, so I have never worried about it.
I will email you, I think the printing problem you are having is another issue.

If you've had it for a year and half, then you should be ok. As I remember the Infocus had 2 years of warranty and 6 months for the bulb.
