Printing Failures and Corrective Action

Postby reify » Sat Aug 22, 2015 6:11 pm

In the first example, a user was unsure why the tops were ripped off his rings. Upon closer inspection, we discovered a small, unsupported swirl inside. You can see that when the layers transition, as shown in pictures 3 and 4, the bottom of the swirl appears in mid-air. Therefore, it was just sticking to the film and wasn't connected to the rest of the ring. Later, when the top converged to this area the resin was already so well adhered to the film that it caused the catastrophic failure. This is also a good example of what a bad mesh looks like after slicing.

Hey there, I got a bit of a problem....hopefully operator error. When I print with my solus, I cant get consistant results as far as measurements go. I just got to where it will print consistly and now I am fine tuning. I need my models to be very accurate but its off....one side will be dead on but the one side will be either longer or shorter than the other....I've got to get this fixed, please help.

This is most likely a computer issue. The aspect ratio of the output is off. You can check this by projecting a 10mm X 10mm square onto a piece of paper placed on top of the glass and then measuring it. You can project it by loading a cube of that size in CW and slicing it. Then going into the slice view and pressing the icon of a display in the bottom left corner. Done forget to click it again to turn it off when you are done.

I am curious then.

Any ideas then on how to correct/adjust settings for the aspect ratio on the computer?

They will most likely be in the graphic card options. Gotta make sure you are outputting the NATIVE aspect ratio for the HDMI connection. Sometimes they will be set to emulate the screen. If your screen is not 1080p then the projection will copy that aspect ratio.

But first, the best thing is to project the square and measure it. To make sure if the aspect ratio is incorrect.
