Help with printing large thick ring

Postby Joetrfj » Sun Oct 16, 2016 1:39 pm

Hi Guys

Can someone recommend a layer thickness and layer exposure time for the attached ring, been getting quite a few fails on this one. Is there a rule for thicker pieces?

Im using pure emerald at 25xy

Hi,

I would try printing it upside down, flat on the platform. Probably need to add a couple supports inside the shank.

Really, is there a reason for printing it upside down? Also i'm going to try in at 0.030 at 3800 a layer, does this sound right?

Thanks for the help.

By printing upside down you can eliminate all the supports for the overhangs on the top. The ring has a flat top so it's a perfect candidate for this. You will probably need to increase the buffer time though so the resin can flow out of the center cavity before the exposure starts.
