Projector not turning on and off with software

Hello all,

I had to cancel a print once and I manually turned my projector off. Ever since it wont turn on and off with the contour software. I have to manually turn it on and off. Is there a way to reset this?

Did you update the software?

You may need to go to EDIT/PREFERENCES and choose your correct projector.

I'm on version 1.2 and I doubled checked the preferences and it's set to the correct projector. Any other suggestions?

Please make sure that the rs232 cable is connected to the back of the projector and the usb end of the cable is connected to your pc. You might want to disconnect the USB part and reconnect.

Then go to the Device Manager in windows and under ports, see if the new port shows up for the rs232 cable. If it does, restart Contour, go to File, Setup then click on Connect to Controller. See if you get any error messages.

It was an odd issue because as long as I manually turned the projector on and off it would print fine. I wen't though the steps you outlined and it fixed the issue. Thank you. Can you tell me what I should do when I cancel the print and the projector is still on? Should I just manually shut it off?

Yes. You can manually turn off the projector if you cancel a print and are finished printing. Turning the projector on and off manually is perfectly fine. Just make sure to let it rest for 30 min before turning it on again.

My projector not auto shutting off also. Unplugged and checked the usb port as suggested. No error message.
Running Contour 1.1x64.

Hi Dennis,

Please upgrade the software to version 1.2. Make sure the RS232 cable is connected to the back of the projector, and the usb end is connected to your PC. Then launch Contour, go to File / Setup and click on CONNECT TO CONTROLLER. Then take a screenshot. That will tell us if there is anything wrong.
