can someone help me figure out what this is?

Postby manakawari » Thu Jul 27, 2017 6:46 pm

im posting a photo and if you look , youll see an imperfection in the print that sort of looks like a bubble...I initially thought that's what it was, a bubble in the resin but now im starting to think that its a blemish in the film because it seems to appear in the same spot most of the time.

Anyone?

That could be cure resin floating in the resin. Try straining your resin.

Looks like a contaminate, most likely a floating cured resin as Jewelermdt have already said . We tend to mill big pieces. The surface is way smother and the casting result is flawless with wax. Good luck Marc.

If you are printing that item flat, and you have the blemishes appearing in the same spot each time, it is probably a blemish on the film - probably a pit or a dimple where the film may have been stretched when removing some resin residue from the bottom of the vat. I had a similar issue when printing flat objects with one of my films. I changed the film and it solved the problem.

If there's enough room on the platform, maybe you could move it to a different spot and see if the blemish still appears.

Man that's alot of surface contact to have to peel off of the film between layers. I know it's nice to have that top surface nice and flat but I usually print stuff like that on it's side so as to not stress the film.

I had this problem when printing flat on the build plate too. I moved it around and rotated it with no change. I changed wall angle and filet size and that didn't help either. I finally just filled it with perfect purple wax and then cleaned it up. I love working with this resin. I'm not great with the CAD and can make adjustments with filing down the resin. It also helps me by double checking the cure.
