Broken Projector Bulb

Postby Vort3d » Sat Sep 02, 2017 9:13 pm

So last night I didn't hit the turn projector off after print button. Came in to find this mess. It was a pretty hot day also (mid 90's F during the day). Print was a little longer than a normal print (4 hr 41 min)
Kinda shocking. I know I've seen similar posts on here in the past of people glass breaking due to over-heating. The projector has plenty of room also, nothing to block the vents. We even have a little desk fan to help cool the projector while printing.

The print did finish and turned out fine.
We've had the projector for a little over a year. And I'm pretty sure the warranty is only a year :(
Any one have any recommendations?

Is that the Optoma projector? I would contact Optoma and tell them about this. They might make an exception to repair it for free, or for a small fee. You will most likely need to pay for the new bulb.

Having the projector running all night could be trouble especially if the ac is off in the room and it's really hot.

It's important to make sure the projector is running cool. Should be enough distance from the walls around it to allow for good air circulation. You don't want the hot air coming out of the projector to be sucked back in. Over 90F temperature can cause problems for sure if you don't have the AC running. We try to keep the temps at mid 70s here when printing.

Did you check the shut off after print? I have a small usb fan blowing on the projector while printing. It came with an adapter to use a normal plug.
