Thank you,
I think I'm going to return that laptop and find one with a hdmi port. The video out has to be 1980x1020 right? I was looking at laptops that's has the the same screen resolution but is very hard to come by. I clicked on the link of laptops you recommended but they don't deliver to UK.

Re: Which laptop is best
If it has hdmi, it will be 1080 resolution. The monitor resolution is irrelevant.

Hi there
I've installed arudino drivers but the ports don't recognise it when I go to control panel.
Wish I could send you a screen shot. Anyway it's show two poets only. COM1 and Printer port.
Can anything be done for it to recognise the arudino
Thanks

Re: Which laptop is best
I've been looking at laptops and discussed a bit with Mark.
I know the official line is HD Graphics 4000 or better - but this is not all that helpful as there are a number of newish (2015 and later) Intel 'HD Graphics' codes that do not fit the '000' series (Broadwell, HD Graphics 410 etc)
So what are key things the graphics need to do? Is it shaders, speed or what?
This site is useful in comparing cards. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-G ... 915.0.html. There is a column in the middle that lists all the cards - and it is a long list. "Broadwell" is only 4 places below HD4000 - so more or less equivalent. There are 6 classes of cards with HD Graphics 4000 in the middle of class 4. Presumably classes 1-3 would easily do the job, but what about the cards below HD4000 in class 4? By the way, HD 4200 is less capable than HD 4000 on this list so it is confusing.
Chips with HD4000/HD5500 drive laptops significantly more expensive than some of the other graphics cards that are apparently roughly equivalent - which is why I ask. I'm in NZ, so some of the great deals recommended on this forum are not available to me. I'm sure it would be more widely useful to understand the essential specs needed to drive the Solus though.
