So, is the Osram 230w bulb (SKU# 69793) compatible with the 8606 which originally came with 240w? SKU#69814 looks to be discontinued. Added to that, descriptors and pictures aren't matching in my search. It's a bit confusing.

Nope. Not discontinued. The projector is. Not the bulb.

In mine 8606 is a bulb 240W as Wdshea mentioned.
But Infocus want to sell the Sp bulb 85 and they say it is 230W ???
What is to buy?
