Prints by Tiger

Postby Tiger » Fri Jan 22, 2016 5:30 pm

I did some tests with the Solus and must say the quality is very good.
I was working on a ring and decided to have a test with this piece, design was not yet finished and I wanted to have a real life preview.
Printing time 2H30 compare to 9 hours with my micro...not bad.
Surface resolution is very nice, attached is a Matrix picture of the final piece as well.

Better than micro, 25microns in plaats van 35microns.
No steps visible, very smooth finish ;)

Very good test. I am ordering my second Solus Monday to set up for 42xy. That way I wont have to switch back and forth on the one I already have.

The only way to compare quality is to print the same file on different printers.
Here is a test I did, comparing the Envisiontec Micro wit the Solus.
Same file sent to the same company, cast on the same tree.
Printed on the Solus with B9R-3-Emerald, printed on the Micro with EC500M.
The wax is smoother on the Solus, no growing lines, you can definitely see the difference on the pictures (first one Solus on the right, second one Solus on the left).
Definition is slightly sharper on the Solus.
Casting with the Emerald resin is very good, I wasn't so lucky with the sherry one (I didn't cast myself).
Printing time is 3 time faster as well, not bad if you are in a hurry ;)

So our friend can cast the Emerald resin! Good to know.
Thanks for the info Tiger and showing us the difference.
Solus, better print quality, faster and way cheaper than the Micro... :D

I am running some test prints with the green right now. I like your test results. They coincide with the results I have been getting.

Yes, resin is cured 6 min in a Photopol curing unit.
I clean the piece 15sec in propanol, dry with compressed air, 30 min at 38°C, 6 min in Photopol.
I just bought a microwave and will try curing with baby oil as well.
