MikeT's Prints

Postby Jewelermdt » Sat Jan 23, 2016 8:32 pm

Just got my green resin. Printed great but sill some issue. I'm finding that depending on where my model is place on build platform is weather I get a fail or not.

First print

Second place back on platform

Pictures got reversed. Top picture was place toward back edge. bottom toward front.

Are you angling those hearts a little? It should help with the print.

Will try that with the initials I'm trying to print. The pictures were taken before any cleaning, so still wet with resin. The second printing came out great.

I wonder if the fail wasn't caused by the temp and too low of a settle time. With a hollow print like that, the resin might need extra time to flow out of the cavity before the exposure starts. We use 6000 ms as the default for the cherry and emerald...how does the viscosity of the emerald compare to the cherry?

I think the green is a little more fluid (thinner). For me I think it needs longer exposure. Reason is when I clean the parts, I loose some surface unlike with the cherry. I clean in alcohol then in water with dawn detergent for a few minuets. I have only tried printing these initials and hearts.

Got a few great prints with the green. Here's a pict of one. Just rinsed with Alcohol. Used a .2mm support layer under the heads. Sands off nice after curing. Casting the green for the first time tomorrow. Will post picts.

Great! The green resin seems much easier to print.

I am liking the green. I cast these today using standard Satincast with my normal wax burn out. I tried Plasticast but I got it too thick and it did not flow into initials. Cast looks ruff but the sanded out nice.

Cast these today. Green Resin. Microwave cured, 3mm let oil cool 3min, cool then clean off oil and one dip in Mineral spirits-wax to dry mostly. Satincast with regular burn out for wax. Picture is a little blurred, but them were very smooth.
