I Have a bone to pick with .....

Postby Archerm » Wed Feb 17, 2016 10:16 pm

Emil and Mark!! This 3d printer is absolutely great!!! So I was sitting at my Cad computer this morning and had a few minutes to burn sooooo I put this together really quick. I wanted to test the printer to see if this would print on the 42xy build at .020. I wanted to do it with minimal support. The project measures 60mm X 20mm The only supports are one on the bottom of each helix wire curve. No supports between any of the helix coils. These are intertwined and will be all connected and flexible when the supports are removed. The supports are 1mm diameter with a cone attached footprint of .25mm to the piece. The piece itself is 1mm diameter wire helix coils. I will tell you I am in Ah of this printer. On a side note the B9 emerald resin has just been great.

Whats neat is when the supports come off it will still be connected but flexible. but it wont come apart.

Casting this piece would actually be pretty easy. If I were going to cast it I would have angled all the supports 25 degrees the same direction oriented down towards one end. I would have made the supports the same diameter from the base to the helix(no taper at the helix). Then I would have added a main support to connect the supports on each helix coil joining the main supports at one end of the piece. This would act as the main sprue. I would have grown the piece with all the above included in the print. If I get a chance in the future I will cast one. Pretty busy right now.
