Ben's Prints
Increased the lift distance to 5 for this one. Currently have one running with even more supports, z lift speed at 80, exposure buffer at 2, and z lift height at 5. (I had my emerald settings at z speed 50, buffer 2, z height 5) Hopefully this next one comes out.

Re: Ben's Prints
Ben,
I just sent you an email.
Also, are you by any chance using the sphere supports? We don't recommend using those with this resin, because the support areas are very fragile for easy removal in the first place. If you do use sphere supports, you need to make the support tips a lot thicker than usual.

Re: Ben's Prints
ah, yes i was using .3 mm sphere supports. So that is probably my problem right there. I changed the auto support on this one to .4mm spheres. some of the manual supports that I added stayed at .3mm and I added a few more sphere supports. I'll stick to using .4mm spheres and above from now on.

Re: Ben's Prints
Casting of the elephant came out a little rough. We used the recommended burnout cycle but with Plasticast investment.

Re: Ben's Prints
look, as if your oven was a little bit too cold.
Had the same problems with the emerald-
Try to go up to 800C°
For us that solved the problem.
Also the Elephant is relativ thick.
So a lot of resin have to burn out.
We hold the 800C° for 3 hours, before going down to casting temperature.
best regards and good luck !!

Also i think the temperature of the metal for castting was too high.
We cast with 500C° Flask, and 1050 C° metal temperature.

Re: Ben's Prints
What did you use to cure the print and for how long? Also, any reason you didn't use satincast? We found that it works much better with this resin than plasticast.

Re: Ben's Prints
According to our casting guys, it's incomplete burnout, either due to not-post curing properly, or due to the oven not being hot enough. Might need to hold a little longer and hotter on the high end for something this thick.

Re: Ben's Prints
For curing I UV cured for 2 hours (2 fingernail box rig) and then microwave cured 3 rounds of 2.5min. This is what I have been doing for the emerald. Should I adjust this?
We used Plasticast because we didn't have any Satin Cast and wanted to see if we could use what we have. Will try bumping up the max temp and holding longer. Our goldsmith just left for vacation so we wont be able to try again until next week.
