Re: B9 Yellow Castable Resin Testing

I have a B9 and cast the yellow resin before Christmas, same burnout as B9 cherry. It burnt out bone white as compared to grey staining of the cherry. A small ring came out beautiful, but a heavy signet(50 gms)had problems, however I have determined that it is investment breakdown. My investment is old(over 3 years). These resins put any investment to the test, as the pressure of expansion is much greater than wax. I was using a product from Whip-Mix called Omnicast. I have ordered a new investment from Stuller that is specifically designed for the high pressures of resin castings called PRESTIGE OPTIMA INVESTMENT. I'll keep you posted on how that works out. Now that Christmas is over I'll be able to set up my new Solus and will try the yellow resin on it. Although the yellow burns out clean I am not happy with the detail of the yellow vs the cherry. Even using the B9 factory yellow settings and new to young PDMS and everything calibrated, I am not getting as good of detail as the cherry and some supports are failing. I went back to cherry, same items and got three of the best prints I've ever gotten. I have cast the cherry on small to medium sized rings with no problems. It is the heavier items that are causing problems, but again I now know that it is an investment breakdown problem and not the resin itself. I'll be contacting staff at B9 to sort out why I'm getting inferior results with the yellow vs the cherry. I will try and post comparison pictures tomorrow. Happy New Year to all.

If you want someone to test cast it, I will volunteer.

Thx for the profile Emil ... Will try to run a print and hopefully it works later this week

Any special considerations needed when supporting yellow ? And if I wanted to print 25z is it a simple change of exposure time ?

Thanks

KBS,

I didn't do anything new to the supports. Same models I printed with cherry and other resins.

No, nothing simple about it. That's why I provided the profile and not just exposure times and tested it for days.

Yes. It's in there. Just select the 42XY from the drop down box called RESIN in the Resin Profile section on the bottom left. That should adjust the values automatically.
