One quality higher than B9 Cherry?

Postby robin » Wed Nov 25, 2015 10:22 pm

Hi,

I was wondering which resin is the next level higher in terms of quality and guaranteed castability that Solus users can get their hands on? I've read about those $700/bottle resins and was wondering what's the cheaper alternative to that. Thanks!

We have been using EC500 resin on our Envisiontec Micro for the last 3 years both machine and resins are quite a lot more expensive than a Solus and cherry resin.

But believe me the Solus and cherry resin are our preferred choice and give us certainly equal and debateably better quality

Sometimes we waste a lot of time and effort searching for something better especially when you think paying a bit more will get you there, but I don't think at this time there really is anything that will top what the Solus and cherry resin gives, and when you factor in the price I think we have a great combination.

The solus resin (currently in testing stages) will offer better quality prints, sharper corners and details, easier to print with (requires less supports), much easier post cleanup and is more durable. Also, it doesn't need excessive post curing after it's been printed.

Oh ya, and it's castable.

Hopefully it will be announced and released soon.

That's great to hear! I'll be constantly shipping the printed models to a client of mine so a "safe" delivery is something to worry about. How tough would you say the new resin is? Nvm, I just noticed the "durable" part.

That is good to hear, the B9 cherry is just not castable. I don't understand why if B9 created the resin, why they are not trying to improve it.

It's castable ... but I've gotten better results by just having it molded and using normal wax via a silicone mold ...

Are you casting it yourself or sending the prints out? I see successful casts almost every day so it's definitely possible.

I've had excellent results with casting B9 cherry.

I use Plasticast and just before pouring, I vacuum the mold with a metal tipped Shop Vac.
