I just thought I would share a few casting pics from today.

1.The models were printed in the Emerald resin.
2.Then UV cured for a minimum of 3 Hours.
3.Then microwave cured in distilled water. 3min in the microwave in distilled water let cool refill water then repeat two more times.
4. Invest models Bench set for minimum of 2 hours.
5. Into the oven ramping up the temp straight to 1000*F in three hours. Let the temp stabilize at 1000*F.
6.Ramp up to 1450*F Hold for Minimum of 1hour I like 2 hours. (The plasticast I would only recommend 1350-1400 Max.)
7. Drop back down to casting temp and I blow a little air into the sprues to flush out any ash if there is any. Just a precaution.
8 Hold at casting temp for 1 hour then cast.

The top three were cast in Triumph investment and the bottom three were cast in Plasticast. The Plasticast had the better finish.

Nice photo!

What metal did you cast in? Also what ratio did you mix your plasticast?

The top row pieces were cast in 14kw and 14ky. The three on the bottom are all sterling silver.
38ml of water per 100grams of plasticast.

Whenever I use Plasticast using either 38/100 or 42/100, I never can vacuum it correctly. It raises very fast and just keep raising and never boil while vacuum. I tried 38/100 once and after vacuum twice for about 30 sec each time, the investment just become harden. There is always air bubbles left after casting too using 42/100. How do you do yours? Any tip and trick would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

Its my first casted model printed by solus.
Solus work was really great. But i had some problems in casting.
I used recommended burnout cycle by b9. But i still have problem. It seems that melted resins wreck the bottom of the model and smoothness.
I use satin cast investment.

Cant use satin cast there is a chemical reaction with the resins. Switch to plasticast asap.

I've been using Satincast with the B9 emerald green with great success. I have not done any large-heavy rings yet though.

I cast this simple ring today.
It came out ok. Even the text inside it. but again melted resin wrecked inside walls smoothness.
I read from b9 forum that they mix investment with boric acid to make it stronger.
I will give it a try next time.

You will find Plasticast so much better for the emerald. Give it a try.
