Anyone with experience casting resin miniatures?

Postby ZachJ » Mon Jan 30, 2017 1:30 pm

Now that I have the Solus up and running, the next step is to get a decent home setup for producing resin casts of the prints I make. These need to be of high quality, as I
plan on either using them during commissions or selling them.

I'd like to use a mold and resin like Smoothon, but after scouring the internet Ive managed to get a lot of different opinions on the subject. For small intricate detail, it seems like using
a vacuum chamber is the best bet (over a pressure chamber)? I know there is a lot of trial and error, but Id like to nail down the purchase side if possible. Does anyone have any advice
they'd like to offer on a home setup?

I've only dabbled with resin casting but I've always used the vacuum chamber to de-gas the resin before casting.

Vacuum is the way............. when it comes to the casting part, you can either use manual of induction .

Though there is plenty of serious and successful casting process in this forum. have fun digging .
