Depends on metal your casting and how heavy a model. I use 1000 degrees F. I use vacuum cast, so I figure I'll loose several degrees before I pour metal. Most use somewhere between 800 to 1000 for casting temp.

I use something like this for casting and investing. http://www.gesswein.com/p-10338-t15-del ... chine.aspx

This is a nice burn out oven. http://www.gesswein.com/p-7821-ney-3-55 ... rnace.aspx

I use this http://www.gesswein.com/p-1612-ney-fiber-furnace.aspx with this so I don't have to babysit. http://www.gesswein.com/p-1620-kilnminder-4e.aspx. A little work in wiring the furnace to work with it. You have to disable everything but the heating coils. So it's best to purchase an ALL IN ONE unit.

You will have to send out platinum. I do very little and send my to Tech-Fourm
