The resin can be secondary cause if an improper cure of the model degrades the investment during investment gloss off and setting.
I think the biggest issue is the fact that more often than not, the text is right in the path of the metal as it rushes into the negative and erodes the edges or breaks off the cured investment damaging the fine detail and creating an imperfection somewhere on the surface or the interior of the piece. That is why they suggest keeping it as shallow as possible and not having hard edges on the text that protrudes into the negative space.
